I was visiting Chicago on 8th April'24 and made a big mistake by selecting the Marriott Marquis as my hotel of choice to spend 4 nights in Chicago. I found the hotel services far below my expectations :(. Despite paying close to USD 600/night I had to count on SELF SERVICE. There was no help available. Even I had to carry /push my luggage upto my room. There was no one to help me with my luggage. :( The staff at the Front Desk, I later realized, are part-time students who work on an hourly basis. They have absolute no reason to connect with the guests, understand their needs or even attempt to meet the needs as they have no understanding of the hospitality industry. That brings me to the word HOSPITALITY. From my recent trip to USA and my experience at the Marriott Marquis and a couple of other hotels during my trip, I have come to the conclusion that the word HOSPITALITY is absolutely alien in that part of the world!! Neither the people expect and nor do they complain. Its simply a " matter of fact" to not to receive any kind of service at these so called high end Hotels. Its just we, as tourists from the other side of the world are not accustomed to paying so much and not receiving any kind of service or attention and having to depend on on SELF SERVICE. In conclusion if one stays, in USA, in a USD100 /night motel or a USD500/night Hotel, the quality of service, if any, is the same. Comparing the quality of service another Marriott Marquis, say in Asia is far far appreciative than in USA. If anyone is looking for service in hotels in USA, think again!! You will be disappointed....

Conference stay at Marriott. Convenient location. Hotel seems quite new. Room functional clean and equipped if a bit on the small side. Food hall area and bar were good and a bit different from your usual corporate big box hotel set up Convenient for conference centre even if our show was a massive walk through a labyrinth of hotels and passages. Found the Marriott on the expensive side considering supposedly promotional event rates The Marriott Marquis was fine for the purpose of our stay.

The Marriott Marquis Chicago is a beautiful hotel! The hotel room was excellent- very clean with a comfortable bed and pillows. The view from the room was great- it was cloudy/snowy/rainy, but when the weather cleared, the view was amazing. The elevators were very fast and having the elevators split up by floor made it quick to run up to your room. Overall, a great experience!

The staff was wonderful greeting us as we arrived and getting us checked in. The room was very nice with a view of Lake Michigan. Very quiet, bed was comfortable. There was a bar and restaurant in the lobby which was convenient. We were in the area for a basketball game and we were able to walk across the street to the Wintrust Arena.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights to attend a conference being held in the hotel. This was first ever stay in Chicago and a Marriot Marquis branded hotel. I checked in via my app, so once I arrived, it was a short wait before getting my keys. it was a little busy, so they didn't spend too much time going over the amenity details but I was able to get the basics. During my short wait, I noted the lobby is quite cavernous, which is what I would expect from a hotel near a convention center. Given the size of the hotel, there are two bays of elevators - one for the lower half of the hotel, and one bay for the higher level floors. You need your room key to access the floor you are on, from what I could tell. When I got off the elevator, I was actually impressed with how nice and clean the hallways were. It looked a little higher and very well kept, compared to most standard Marriott hotels I've stayed at. When I got to my room, it looked more like a standard Marriott. Nice enough, but nothing particularly special. A good sized room with mini fridge and safe, and a decent WiFi connection. As an elite member, I did use the M Club Lounge, but was sort of disappointed that operating hours are from 6am to 3pm, which is much more limited than most M Clubs. The entrance sign states that elite members can bring one guest (as per standard rules), but I noticed a couple of families, so they likely accommodate to families when reasonable to do so. The space itself is actually quite large and spacious, so that was nice. The breakfast options were very standard with 3 hot foods (meat, eggs and potatoes), along with breads, cereals, fruits, yogurts, coffee and other drinks. Once breakfast finishes at 9:30am, they do have a selection of snacks left out like cookies, chips and granola bars. I used the gym each day, and it's a very large one, so it never felt crowded. The hotel does have a restaurant and a food hall, but did not try them so had no comments. There's not a lot of amenities or much to look at in the immediate area, so it's good for visiting the convention center, but not particularly for visiting the city as a tourist. It's a fair walk or ride in to get to see the main attractions in Chicago. Overall, I was generally satisfied with my stay. It's a well kept facility, with good staff, and convenient for conferences. Just a little disappointed with the short M Club hours, and not the most convenient location for walking around.
